Soft-Top Teaser Reels With a Centering Plate

  1. Choose your mounting location...
    Determine where you will mount the Teaser Reel System. Use this location for the measurements you will take in Steps 2 and 3 (see image below).



  2. Size your clamps...
    To do this, measure to the nearest 16th/inch of the Outside Diameter (OD) of your pipe, using either a caliper (preferred method) or a tape measure (see images below).

    Select your Pipe OD measurement*:
    Caliper:
    1.031" - 1.125"
    1.281" - 1.340"
    Tape:
    1-1/32"
    1-1/16"
    1-1/8"
    1-9/32"
    1-5/16"
    1-11/32"

    Measure with either a tape measure or calipers.


  3. Size your adjustable channel...
    Our adjustable channels come in 3 sizes. To determine correct size for your boat, measure the overall center-to-center spread between your pipes. Make sure this measurement is from the center of one pipe to the center of the other (see image below).

Spooling your Teaser Reels

SportTeaser Inc. does not supply line with the reels. We recommend you select your favorite line in the 150-250 lb. class and spool your reels before installation.

SportTeaser Inc. recommends using small test line on the inside of the spool. When that big Marlin or Tuna decides to swallow your teaser, the line will break when the bottom of the spool is reached. Our tests have shown that beginning the spooling process with approximately 30 yards of 10 Lb. test monofilament and then connecting the large diameter teaser line with an Albright knot will protect your outrigger poles and guides from any hungry fish that may actually swallow your teaser.

Since all boats are manufactured and rigged differently, you will have to decide the best method of routing your teaser line to your outrigger poles. One recommendation is to attach glass rings to your outrigger poles and route the line from your cockpit using ceramic eyes, stainless eyes or by using zip ties with eyes.
